Beautiful, artistically crafted, quality toys, made of natural materials that promote a sense of beauty and an understanding of quality. Grimm's Toy Makers consider this important in our "disposable society." Grimm's are a family owned and sustainably managed manufacturer at the foot of the Swabian Alps, Germany which produces beautiful things made of wood, as well as natural, high quality and safe wooden toys made to officially certified standards.
Grimm's creators design durable wooden toys whose minimal design leaves much room for the development of the child’s creativity. In this way, new fantastic play worlds emerge, keeping pace with the child's development. In product development, they are guided by the principles of Waldorf education and other educational approaches, such as Montessori.
The wood used comes from sustainable forestry in Europe. Woodworking is outsourced to small independent companies in Europe. The largest of these producers has learned his trade working in the company in Germany. At the company headquarters, new products are developed, and products are oiled, dipped in colour, assembled, quality checked, packaged and shipped all over the world.
Children and adults alike are attracted by the brilliant colours and beautiful uncoated wood surfaces. The bright colour glaze and plant oils preserve the living surface of the wood in structure and feel. The result is a typically rough and yet velvety wooden surface, which contributes to a greater play value, especially for building material, because the individual pieces do not slip off so easily. Grimm's use glazing colours and vegetable oil for the products. The colour bubbles are water-based, non-toxic and saliva-fast. All colours and oils are certified according to the European toy safety standard (EN 71).
