Grimms

Beautiful, artistically crafted, quality toys, made of natural materials that promote a sense of beauty and an understanding of quality are of ever-increasingy importance in our "disposable society."  Grimm's are a family owned and sustainably managed manufacturer at the foot of the Swabian Alps, Germany who produce beautiful things made of wood made to certified standards.

Grimm's creators design durable wooden toys whose minimal design leaves room for the development of the child’s creativity. In this way, new fantastic play worlds emerge, keeping pace with the child's development.  The brand is guided in design by the principles of Waldorf (Steiner) education principles and other educational approaches, such as Montessori.

The wood used comes from sustainable forestry resources in Europe including alder, lime, beech and maple wood.

Their products are always unique, with unique traces of nature. With a few exceptions, everything is sanded and sawn by hand - this gives a different expression than machine made and ensures each piece is unique.

Children and adults alike love the brilliant colours and beautiful uncoated wood surfaces. The bright colour glazes and plant oils preserve the living surface of the wood in structure and feel, creating a typically rough and yet velvety wooden surface.  This adds to a greater play value (especially for building materials) because the individual pieces do not slip off so easily as highly polished pieces would.

Grimm's use glazing colours and vegetable oil for the products. The colour bubbles are water-based, non-toxic and saliva-fast. All colours and oils are certified according to the European toy safety standard.
